Algae Photobioreactor
Algae
Photobioreactor
An
algae photobioreactor (PBR) is a device that can contain and grow
algae. This self contained system is a controllable environment in
which to grow algae, and where the supply of light, nutrients, carbon
dioxide, air, and temperature can be regulated. See the section on Algae
Media for
more information on culture characteristics.
As
an algae photobioreactor is a totally enclosed system it is generally
more expensive than an open system. However, there are several major
advantages as the bioreactor can prevent or at least minimise
contamination (from other algae species and bugs), and allows easier
cultivation of one algae strain. It also offers better control over a
range of other growing
conditions , like the pH, light,
carbon dioxide, and temperature. In addititon to this a closed system
reduces evaporative water losses, and has lower carbon dioxide losses
which all-in-all means higher cell concentrations. In other words there
are more grams of algae produced per litre of water.
One
of the products that can be grown in these systems is Spirulina,
which is thought to have been a food source for the Aztecs and other
Mesoamericans. Cortés' soldiers even described the
harvesting and sale of algal cakes from Lake Texcoco. More recently at
a UN World Food Conference, Spirulina was lauded as the 'best food for
the future' and a number of Aid agencies are providing high protein
algae powder mixed with flour to starving people. NASA and the European
Space Agency have also indicated that Spirulina might be one of the
primary foods to be grown during long space missions. Lately in the
news there are reports that NASA and a commercial company are exploring
the process of making biofuels from algae.
Other
uses include cosmetics, animal feed, and fertiliser. This certainly is
an exciting and rewarding area! Want to explore for yourself?
This manual
shows you step-by-illustrated-step how to build an algae
photobioreactor to grow your biodiesel or health
food at home. Growing algae at home couldn't be made
any easier for you.

Imagine... having an algae
photobioreactor in your garage, able to grow algae for bio-oil for your
home, health food supplements for your family, organic fertilizer for
your farm or garden, working silently, automatically, 24/7, in your
garage. Imagine able to do it all from one unit, AT THE SAME TIME...
Think about it. The "algae
revolution" is upon us. Algae is one of the most powerful breakthroughs
of the 21st. century. With algae you can "grow your own..."

And
much more...(Science is only beginning to scratch the surface of this

Simply
put, no other organism on earth comes close to algae in versatility.
Suppose
you could invest less than
$35 and get started immediately? How much is good
health, free fuel, and organic vegetables worth to your
family? Sounds too good to be true?
Well,
it isn't if you have the right knowledge, skills, and
resources. We are about to give you those and "Spill the beans" right
now...
No
one has been willing to share really this knowledge... Until Now
Why?
Because that knowledge is worth BIG BUCKS!
With
good reason. PBR's cost ten's of thousands of dollars to build if you
hire them out. You better believe the people that build them keep it
secret. It could take you years and can cost you a small fortune to
figure out just the right combinations that make some
bioreactors work - while others fall flat on their
face.
But
instead of knocking yourself out, spending years of trial and error,
(Like I did. My first PBR I made out of bamboo...it failed.) Trying to
understand this complex machine, you
can now do it yourself, cheaply, easily,
and quickly
with this new ebook.

The
PBR’s presented here all meet various criteria. Among other
things they…
o
All
are scalable and can be built in different sizes
o
They
can be scaled to just about any budget
o
All
are made easily, from materials at hand.
o
All
are made using basic hand tools.
o
All
are inexpensive to reproduce.
o
All
are functional, work, and perform the job they are built for.
In short, they are the real deal.
The
best part is, you can build these units yourself for a
fraction of the cost.
Advantages:
·
Easily
built using readily available parts.
·
Easy
to take apart and clean.
·
Can
be built with normal household tools.
·
Can
be built in 2-3 days.
·
Easy
